Only 1.5 hour flight
from Miami, the island of Providenciales located in Turks
& Caicos is a crystal clean paradise where you can kitesurf
to you hearts content. There are miles of wide open beaches and
secret bays with shallow turquiose water and soft sand with plenty
of room to fly a kite and good wind.
There is a terrific
kite school down there headed by Mike Haas who has years of experience
teaching kiteboarding with Kitty Hawk Kites located on the outer
banks in North Carolina. I found this island to offer a high level
of instruction and the geography of the kitesurfing areas to be
among some of the most gorgeous and safest around.
The sport is growing
and there are only maybe 12 kitesurfers on the island. Most of them
